Disposition:
Gentleman - First and foremost, Wuque is a gentleman. He cares deeply about helping others and making sure they are well cared for. Even if it means he must be uncomfortable himself, he will go out of his way to ensure that others are put first. We also see extensions of this as he makes sure women around him are treated well, justice is served properly, and that others are polite as they should be. Note that he's never forceful about this but will instead offer gentle reminders to those he feels are in error in their ways.

It can be no surprise that this is someone who will give you the shirt off of his back to make sure that you're not cold. Or will make sure that a fight is fair rather than simply kill you off. Wuque is someone where clans have looked up to him for how polite and diplomatic he is. Now, it can be confusing at times to watch him stick to this, people will often feel he's going to be used (something that ties into the next part) but Wuque stays true to himself by taking care of others and always making sure that things are fair.

Naive - One thing to note about Wuque though is that he's incredibly sheltered. He has spent literally eighteen years of his life being kept at home and a good chunk of that he was left almost entirely alone save for maidservants attending to him. This is someone who never had friends before in his life and is only experiencing the outside world for the first times. So, he can make mistakes in his judgment based on this. Never with the intention of causing harm, always well meaning. But sometimes not understanding how the world works can bite the best of intentions hard.

This can also make him easy to trick. Of course he can see through this eventually but the likelihood of you pulling one over on him is very high. While he's extremely intelligent, that doesn't mean he expects others to be dishonest with him or to mess with him.

Humble - Though confident in what he can do and what he is capable of, you will never see him bragging about it. Nor will you see him bragging about all of the advantages that he's had in life. Yes, he's a powerful martial artist and yes, he was raised with extreme privilege. This does lead to him not understanding those of lower status but he never is seen treating others like they are beneath him.

If you ask him, he's still learning about his martial arts as well as the world around him. It's even shocking to him if you mention that he's incredibly attractive. Far more likely he's going to gently mention that he's not as wonderful as one thinks and politely try to change the subject. Others may be blown away by how powerful he is but Wuque is more than aware that there are those out there who are superior to him in knowledge and power. And he even looks up to them, trying to learn from them.

Adaptable - As much as he tends to stay true to who he is, he also is able to learn to adapt to his circumstances if he needs to. At the start of the series we see him as steadfastly honest and never deceiving anyone. Later we find him able to trick a villain into thinking that he's not been harmed at all despite the fact that using his skills will cause himself great harm. Now, this isn't to say that he's magically a different person. At his core he's still a virtuous, honest gentleman. However, as he learns more about the world around him, he does see that he needs to adjust himself accordingly. He can't just be the person that he was raised to be out in the world because that doesn't work.

People often respond well to this and he's quick to let himself learn from others. As long as he's sure that what he's learning isn't something that is simply used for evil, naturally. At the end of the day he's still a good person who only wishes to do what is right.

Curious - Sheltered though he is, he wants to learn about others and about the world around him. You will often find him watching people or even asking questions. It's true he was raised to not ask questions by his aunts but when he's away from them he wants to build his wealth of knowledge. Things that confuse him are things he wants to know more about...as long as he can politely do so naturally. If it cannot be asked politely, he will not ask.

Condition upon arrival: Perfect health and feeling good about being friends with Xiaoyu as well as having someone to join him in bringing down Jiang Biehe.

Abilities: Wuque is a highly trained martial artist who has been trained in the “Yihua Jade Swapping Palm” style. This means that he is highly skilled in combat with both hand to hand as well as with a sword or fan. This specific style also allows him to use the force an opponent is using against them, often displayed as almost manipulating the energy around him to force his opponent to be bent away from him or to twist them into falling. Most often he will use his fan to accomplish this since that is his preferred fighting method. But, he can also do this with his bare hands or with a sword.

Another thing he can use is something known in wuxia as Qinggong which allows him to easily run up walls or seemingly defy gravity to leap great distances or seem to run on water or even look like he's flying. He is also well versed in pressure points, able to paralyze someone with a tap to one of these points which is what he most often uses it for.

Finally, he's very skilled in using his qi which he has cultivated strongly for eighteen years. With it, he can seemingly create barriers to protect himself or others, apply it to his martial arts, or even give some of it to others in order to heal them. With this healing, it should be noted that he's well versed in medicines and poisons so he's able to treat most injuries and illnesses. If he has to, he will offer some of his own cultivated qi to that person to save them. Doing so will weaken him very slightly for a time but he's able to cultivate that qi again given enough time and meditation. He can even use his qi to slowly heal himself up but this could take a few days to accomplish depending on the injury he's been given.

Note that while all of these abilities are considered powerful in his world, he's still not the most powerful person and he can be defeated by others and cannot save someone too far gone in terms of injuries.

Canon Update

Changes: (Basic Summary) After working together with Xiaoyu the two become extremely good friends. A series of events pulls them apart but we are able to see their bond is strong as they keep fighting to make sure the other is safe and that they do things which will protect the other. Though they have an agreement to fight each other it's clear they care deeply about each other. Enough so for them to look for ways to get out of the fight. This leads to Wuque returning home but his aunts forcing his hand to keep his promise and even to cut ties with the woman he's fallen in love with.

Through another series of events, he almost loses his aunts and Xiaoyu to a cave in but they're able to be rescued. With the fight back on, they have a day to recover and Xinlan comes to admit she has feelings for him to. They spend the night together and the next day the fight is on. It seems the two friends are evenly matched until Xiaoyu pulls a stunt to take a blow which seems to kill him. Wuque seems to feel his life is over but it's revealed to be a trick and Xiaoyu faked his own death to have the secret of their relationship revealed. Surprise! They're twins! With Wuque's aunts defeated they're able to go live their lives being brothers and getting to live with their lady loves.

(Key Significant Notes):

- Wuque develops such a close attachment to Xiaoyu that he rushes forward to do anything for him. They are essentially soulmates despite being twin brothers. Both of them realize that no one matters more to them than the other does at the end of the day.

- He also forced an injury of his to heal faster just to go and save Xiaoyu. On the flip side, he knows that Xiaoyu literally swallowed poison just to save him in return.

- He now knows that Tie Xinlan has feelings for him rather than Xiaoyu. They have confessed their love to each other and have sworn to spend the rest of their lives together. Originally they made a pact to die together rather than Wuque killing Xiaoyu in the fight but with the reveal they no longer have to worry about that and can live happily together.

- Both of his aunts have been killed off. The older sister killed the younger in order to silence her then went mad and walked herself off a cliff chasing an illusion.

- Yihua Palace was ended by Wuque when he became the master of it. In the martial arts world it doesn't exist anymore.

- He's met his father's sworn brother and is on good terms with him. He's happy to have family in this world now. His uncle has decided to go into seclusion with his doctor and has left the protection against evil to the twins.

- He now knows that Jiang Xiaoyu is his older twin brother. Though he's been given the family name Jiang now, he's equally content to continue to be called Hua Wuque.

- He and his brother are now considered the two strongest active martial artists in their world.

- Personality changes include the fact that he smiles even easier now. Though he's still very reserved, Xiaoyu has been a great influence on him and he's able to let himself go to have fun. However, we've seen that to protect Xiaoyu and Xinlan he's willing to end his own life for them. Also the shock of finding out he probably killed his own brother was almost enough for him to end things again. These are significant even if it should be noted that he is not at all suicidal.

Along with this, Wuque has proven himself to be very clever and quick on his feet. He's able to tell lies to trick people into thinking he's weaker than he is or stronger than he is. Or even to get people to reveal things to him they want to hide. Naturally he's still a very honest person but it's clear he's learned that sometimes a little fib is there for the greater good. He's even still far too trusting but he makes it clear that he'd rather be this way than to be suspicious of everyone around him.

Essentially, the core of his character is much the same. But significant events have made it easier for him to be free to explore his own desires in the world and even to just find joy.
